Verifiers
Your verifiers are three people who, after your death, confirm that it truly happened. They are the key that protects all of your messages.
Why Three
The decision to deliver your messages never rests on one person alone. It takes the agreement of two of the three — this guards against both a mistake and misuse.
- A single verifier alone triggers nothing.
- If one of them isn't available, the other two are enough.
- Every confirmation they make is emailed to you — so you'll notice right away if anything is happening.
How It Works, Technically
Each verifier holds one encrypted “fragment” of the key. A single fragment is useless; only two together unlock your messages. Not even we, on our server, can do it without them.
Emergency Contact
An optional fourth person. We reach out to them before the verifiers — their only role is to try to reach you or win a little more time. They can't confirm a death and never see your messages.
Who to Choose
People who understand your situation, are reliable, and independent of one another. A verifier can't also be a recipient of your messages.
